A few Fall touches…

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is next week! :)  I can’t wait for all that delicious food and fall goodness.  Even though we aren’t hosting this year, I have spruced up the house for the season with a few fall touches.

I was inspired by this beautiful pumpkin arrangement that I saw on Pinterest.  Luckily I had just the things I needed to create one of my own for the entry table in the living room!  Isn’t it lovely?

And I put my framed fall quote next to it.  :)

Over on the media cabinet I put a tray full of velvet pumpkins! Love these!

I also got a couple of new burgundy velvet pillows on sale at World Market.  And the new candle sconce on the wall was a birthday gift.  Thanks Lisa!

In the dining room I created a neutral arrangement with a burlap runner and a few silver pedestals and bowls.  The mercury glass pumpkin (from Pottery Barn) is the centerpiece. :)  Some pumpkins, gourds, and dried hydrangeas round out the display.

Another tray of pumpkins decorates the flatware cabinet.

It’s very festive and cozy in here now.  But of course, I am counting the days until I can decorate for Christmas!  :)  I’ve already got the Christmas lights on in the kitchen (since I never took them down last year!!) :)

Happy Fall!

Halloween Recap 2015

Welcome to the party!  We had our 19th Annual Halloween Costume Party last night and today I am here to share all the spooktacular decorations and many fabulous costumes from our soiree.  You’re invited to take a look:

This year we decorated the porch with grapevine and orange lights.  Plus we had a couple of spooky characters on the porch and many jack-o-lanterns and candles.

Skellyton was dressed as a drunk cowboy and his bones were infested with snakes!!

In the “library” we flipped all the books around for a neutral spooky atmosphere which coordinated with my silver, black and gold theme in the room.  The dinner buffet was in front of the bookcase with all our party favorites.

We cut new valances out of black felt for a little gothic flair.  Beside the fireplace we set up a haunted wedding vignette complete with dress and skeleton tailor making alterations on the dress.  He even has his pincushion and measuring tape. :)

The red velvet “wedding” cake was nearby on the fireplace.  And the mantel above was decorated with white, black and gold accents.

Our traditional graveyard scene dominated the opposite wall.

And a colony of bats made their way through the party overhead.

In the kitchen, we decorated the pot rack with ghosts and a cleaver with a severed hand. Gross!

The kitchen window was decorated with a cute witch and a bunch of pumpkins and candles.

The dining room had a taco salad bar and dessert buffet as well as the drinks station.

Michael is awarded “most likely to take down a specter”.  He had his work cut out for him at our party… too bad he left his proton pack back at the station! :)

As the party continued into the evening, we held our annual scavenger hunt, played some pool, carved a couple Jack-o-lanterns and a few of us played a rousing game of Pandemic.
