Welcome to the party! We had our 19th Annual Halloween Costume Party last night and today I am here to share all the spooktacular decorations and many fabulous costumes from our soiree. You’re invited to take a look:
This year we decorated the porch with grapevine and orange lights. Plus we had a couple of spooky characters on the porch and many jack-o-lanterns and candles.
Skellyton was dressed as a drunk cowboy and his bones were infested with snakes!!
In the “library” we flipped all the books around for a neutral spooky atmosphere which coordinated with my silver, black and gold theme in the room. The dinner buffet was in front of the bookcase with all our party favorites.
We cut new valances out of black felt for a little gothic flair. Beside the fireplace we set up a haunted wedding vignette complete with dress and skeleton tailor making alterations on the dress. He even has his pincushion and measuring tape. :)
The red velvet “wedding” cake was nearby on the fireplace. And the mantel above was decorated with white, black and gold accents.
Our traditional graveyard scene dominated the opposite wall.
And a colony of bats made their way through the party overhead.
In the kitchen, we decorated the pot rack with ghosts and a cleaver with a severed hand. Gross!
The kitchen window was decorated with a cute witch and a bunch of pumpkins and candles.
The dining room had a taco salad bar and dessert buffet as well as the drinks station.
Our guests this year included Hannah, dressed as Lucy from I love Lucy!
Her two boys were a fireman and his dalmatian pup. Adorable! They were voted Cutest Costumes of the night!
I was attired as Tauriel from The Hobbit.
Papa was Gandalf from Lord of the Rings. He’s been growing his hair out for a few years, so we finally convinced him to put it to good use for Halloween! :)
Mama was Arwen from Lord of the Rings.
We had a great time with our Middle Earth costumes!
Michael dressed as Peter Venkman from Ghostbusters.
Caroline was Alice in Wonderland. :)
Lily was a beautiful Cinderella.
The Cittas in Halloween style. Nelson was the squatty potty unicorn and Debbie was a 50’s girl.
John was a riverboat gambler.
The Millers came dressed as Al from “Home Improvement,” an Eyeore beanie baby, a pig in a blanket, and a scarecrow.
Our costume trophies were highly coveted again this year. I had such fun dressing the little skeletons as Scariest, Best Dressed, Cutest, and Best Disguise.
Lily was awarded Best Dressed in her fancy blue ballgown.
Mama was also awarded Best Dressed.
Dave won Scariest Costume for his Stormtrooper disguise.
Papa won Best Disguise as Gandalf.
Additionally I am awarding Cassie “Most Creative” for her beanie baby costume. :) And Caroline is awarded “Best Fairytale Character” for her perfect representation of Alice in Wonderland.
Michael is awarded “most likely to take down a specter”. He had his work cut out for him at our party… too bad he left his proton pack back at the station! :)
As the party continued into the evening, we held our annual scavenger hunt, played some pool, carved a couple Jack-o-lanterns and a few of us played a rousing game of Pandemic.
Guests said their goodbyes and headed for home as the candles glowed on the porch and the giant spider in the yard finished his evening meal.
Hope you all had an awesome Halloween. I can hardly wait until next year! :)
Meanwhile, it’s on to Thanksgiving and Christmas! :)
