Silent Night

I just put the baby to bed... and minutes later she's asleep.  All is calm.

The lights are glowing in the house and outside, too.  All is bright.

It's my favorite time of night.  Time to sneak away and have a cup of cocoa and do a little last minute Christmas knitting...

Time to reflect on the season of giving and hope.  Time to plan for a bright New Year 2017.

Until next time, Merry Christmas, from the Horvaths.

Christmas at the Horvaths'

Greetings from the land of motherhood! As it turns out, it's tough to balance motherhood and bloggerhood (not to mention housework, hobbies and a social life!).  I'm sure you parents out there are laughing right now!  Our little Georgia girl is 6 months old!  I spend most of my days taking care of her and playing with her.  She's a happy girl, always smiling and entertaining us with her cute mannerisms and budding personality!  She just learned to roll over and is working on sitting up.  Next  up will be crawling and then I'll really be in trouble!!  Despite all these (sometimes overwhelming) responsibilities that come with being a mom, I could not let the holiday season pass by without a Christmas post!  As you know, I love Christmas and I love decorating my house for the holidays!  So, I took a little time this year to spruce the place up.  Here's a look at our decor:

This year I added a spiral of plaid ribbon to the tree.  The ribbon is from Michael's and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it for my tree! :)  It's pleated so it twists nicely as you twine it among the branches.  It's perfect!

In lieu of my formal table setting, this year I opted to do a woodland theme centerpiece. The little bottle-brush forest animals are ornaments!  It goes perfectly with my pinecone trees.

I added this beautiful berry garland to the top of the cabinets.  It's lovely!

I sprinkled my nutcracker collection around the house this year.  I love the new one that has a countdown to Christmas!  Only 7 days to go! :)

Well, that wraps up the inside tour.  Hopefully I'll get a chance to snap some pictures of the front of the house this week.  It's all decked out with lights and garland! :)

Hope you are having a lovely weekend!  If you need me, I'll be hanging out with this little cutie...

Happy Holidays Friends!

20th Annual Halloween Costume Party

Happy Almost Halloween!  We celebrated the holiday last weekend at my parents' house with our 20th Annual Halloween party.  We started having these parties when I was 12.  I dressed as a leper for the first annual party... Classy, I know!  And we are still going strong with our celebrations!  This year was no exception, the house was decorated from top to bottom, as always!  And there was so much food and drink.  Everyone had a great time eating, socializing, playing pool and cornhole and doing the scavenger hunts!  Here's a photo recap of the event:

We had a wide array of costumed guests.
Hannah and her boys were a pirate, a parrot and a bird catcher.

Papa was Willie Nelson.

Mama was a pretty gypsy. She won "Most Authentic" for her costume.

Michael was a modern Frankenstein's monster.  I was a witch with my adorable black cat.

The Guthrie Girls.

Dave was Sterling Archer.

Caroline and Nelson were Rey and Poe from Star Wars.  They won our "Cutest Couple" prize.

Heather was a fairy.

Mary was a magician!  She won "Funniest Costume."

Jan was also a witch!

John was a lumberjack and Julie, a steampunk chick.  She won "Best Dressed!"

We all had a great time celebrating our favorite holiday and we are already planning for next year's party.  Thanks to everyone who attended this year's soiree!  Happy Halloween Everyone!
